Signed Buffalo Sports cricket bat on frame, Australia v World Masters 1998.

The Australian masters played the World Masters in a best of 3 series in Australia in 1998. This bat was signed by 16 of those players. The World side whitewashed Australia with a resounding 3-0 series win.

South African, Barry Anderson Richards took out the honours for the highest batting average at 81, slighting above his test average 72.57. Richards was born in Durban, Natal in 1945. He was a right handed batsman, a talent of such enormous stature that he once batted (and did well) using only the leading edge in a Durban club match. There were many feats of remarkable batsmanship from one of the finest talents of the 20th century, including nine hundreds before lunch and 1000 runs in a season 15 times. But South Africans will never forget the Durban Test of 1969-70, when Richards and Graeme Pollock played the Australian attack to all parts of the Kingsmead ground.

The bowling award for the series went to West Indian, Joel Garner with 8 wickets at an average of 9.5, his best being 3-14. Joel was born in 1952 in Christchurch, Barbados. Batsmen would say that overriding feeling first confronted by the Big Bird, was he would trample on them. Such was the effect of his 6ft 8 inches. His bowling delivered from the clouds and at a lively pace would rear alarmingly from barely short of a length. Allied to that, was the most devastating toe crunching yorker the game has seen.

The bat was signed by: Desmond Haynes, Graeme Wood, Graham Yallop, Zaheer Abbas, Kim Hughes, Clive Rice, Graeme Pollock, Joel Garner, Rod Hogg, Andy Roberts, Barry Richards, Bernard Cairns, Robert Holland, Augustine Logie, Peter Dujon & Jeff Thompson
